Options include:

  • A comprehensive range of fabrics
  • Motorised options
  • Complementing hardware and accessories

Technical Overview

Thomas Sanderson Silhouette blinds are a fabric window covering so revolutionary that it controls light without sacrificing privacy – tilt, raise or lower your blind using the remote control. Simply, it’s a roller blind and venetian blind all in one! By rotating the vanes, enjoy the softness of sheer fabric but with the control of light intensities. This stunning blind provides colour and texture, as well as total light control and privacy.

Hardware

Head rail and bottom rail are extruded aluminium, then powder-coated, available in 11 colours that co-ordinate with the chosen fabric.

Design options

Only the highest quality fabrics are used to create Silhouette Blinds. The fabric consists of 3 opacities of fine woven pure polyester fused together to create soft horizontal opaque vanes suspended between two grades of sheer panels, front and back. Fabrics are available in 25 colours, four styles of weave with a choice of vane size of 50mm or 75mm

Motorised lift and turn

The ultra quiet 12v rotary motor lifts/extends the blind and tilts the vanes. The motor is powered by 8x AA batteries, easily accessible for convenience. The batteries offer over 1 year’s use (tilt open and closed twice a day) before a battery change is required. There is an option to have the blinds plugged to a mains transformer.

Battery remote control

Operation is via Infra-red, controlled by a simple two channel handset. Multiple blinds can be controlled from one handset if desired. For further convenience, a small switch is located at one end of the headrail giving additional control.

Intermediate stop

An intermediate stop position allows the user to set the blind to a desired height anywhere between open and closed. After programming the ‘intermediate position’ the blind will remember this and always stop at this programmed position. The blind can still be fully extended or retracted from this position.

Loop cord option

Manual operation is available and offered only where sizes are either outside the operational capacity of the motor, or too small in width to accommodate a motor. The blind is operated by a colour co-ordinated loop cord fitted to the blind (when loop cords are requested longer than 1800mm, they have to be made specially and have a default colour of white only).

Fit

Silhouette blinds are available to be surface mounted, flush or rebated.

Facette Blinds

Facette blinds are a stunning fabric alternative to traditional venetian and roller blinds. Crafted from lightweight sheer fabrics, facette shades combine horizontal opaque and transparent strips, meticulously woven together to form a double layered blind.

The unique design of facette blinds allows the front layer to move independently of the back, allowing the horizontal strips to move between one another for maximum control over light.

Available in 17 colours, facette blinds help soften excess daylight by reducing glare and light entering the room. And just like traditional roller blinds, facette shades can be raised or lowered to the desired height in the window with ease.

Duette Blinds

Duette blinds are similar in appearance to classic pleated blinds, but on closer inspection reveal some clever design features. Rather than just one layer of fabric, they have a double-layered honeycomb design that provides a stylish, yet functional window covering solution for your home.

The hexagonal structure of the fabric traps air passing through helping to maintain comfortable temperatures by reducing the heat in the warmer summer months and the chill in the coldest, winter months.

As well as being state of the art with remote control technology, duette window blinds are also stylishly streamline; suitable for any room in the home.

Duette Blinds 1 Duette Blinds 2 Duette Blinds 3Duette Blinds 4

The Finish

Thomas Sanderson Duette Blinds are made from hard-wearing non woven fabric, giving a neat and soft appearance at your windows, without cord holes for an extra element of energy efficiency.

Options

All the mechanisms and cords of duette blinds are discreetly hidden, so you don’t have to worry about choosing cords or trims – ideal for a minimalist window dressing!

Options available include:

  • Over 20 colours to chose from
  • Dim out fabrics available
  • Motorised options available
  • Choice of rails allowing you to match to your window frame

Benefits

  • High insulation and light reflection values can be achieved because of its honeycomb structure and range of opacities, keeping the room cool in the summer, yet warm in the winter
  • Cords that are visible in regular pleated fabrics are hidden inside the pleat cell giving a solid crisp appearance when the blind is in the extended position
  • Cut heat loss in winter and increase your home’s cosy comfort asDuette slows the escape of warm air
  • Save money on utilities and save the natural resources used to generate energy
  • Save your interior fabrics, furnishings and woods from fading and deterioration

Fabric/Construction

Available in 25mm pleat size, there are many colours, textures and options to choose from. You can choose from various degrees of translucency, offering you filtering of the natural light, or complete blocking of the sun. Most light filtering Duette fabrics are made with spun 100% polyester. Most have a white neutral backing with many textures and colours on the front. The cells are fused together to prevent separation. For dimout or blackout fabrics, most are made with a milar foil or a tri laminate coating to prevent light from passing through. Again, white or grey is added to the back. Cell construction is important for this product. Some of the less expensive cellular fabrics (not offered by Thomas Sanderson) have separation problems where the material will come apart at the cell.

Hardware

Duette fits neatly into the Thomas Sanderson TecNeat hardware, available as manual tensioned, ball chain and motorised operation.

R-value

Building materials are assigned an R-value according to the product’s ability to resist heat movement. The higher the R-value the better it insulates your home. Most windows have an R-value of 0.9 to 3.0 and can be responsible for 40 to 70 percent of heat or cold transfer for an entire home.

Window frames

Window frames are typically metal, wood or PVC-U. The R-value of a metal frame can be 5 to 20 percent lower than a wood or PVC-U frame window. A single layer of uncovered window glass has an R-value of 1.75. Advances in glass coatings and assembly methods are improving the energy performance of new windows but a window’s age, quality of construction, and the condition of sashes, weather stripping and caulking will impact how much air infiltrates or escapes your home.

In the winter

Heat is naturally drawn to cold surfaces such as glass windows. Duette’s energy efficient honeycomb construction actually traps the cold air, decreasing the intensity of the temperature as it enters the room; this in turn helps minimize the amount of heat that’s drawn toward your windows. Using layers such as the cellular construction of Duette at your windows can increase R-value by 1 to nearly 5 points. In extreme climates, that could save more money than you would spend to install windows with higher energy efficiency.

Shading coefficient

When heat is intense outdoors, solar gain is a consideration and energy talk turns to a product’s shading coefficient (SC). The SC measures effectiveness at blocking solar heat. The lower the number, the better the product is at preventing heat gain.

  • Double-pane window (no window covering) = approx .89 SC
  • Single-pane window (no window covering) = approx 1.0 SC
  • Thomas Sanderson Duette Blinds range from .21 (reduces heat gain by 79%) to .61 (reduces heat gain by 39%)

Venetian Blinds

Why Choose Venetian Blinds?

Venetian Blinds

Venetian Blinds are often a good choice in a variety of applications because you still get clean lines and a contemporary feel, but keep the ability to control the light coming into a room.

They are very light to operate and come in different slat sizes to give you the look you want for your décor.

Venetian blinds: Metal

They offer a sophisticated and stylish range of metal Venetian blinds.

Their uncomplicated style makes them tasteful but with an up-to-date contemporary uncluttered feel, combined with versatility and function. Venetian blinds are not just stylish but also functional offering privacy and can also be used to either filter or totally block light from the home. Operation of the blind is light and easy and is achieved using a combination of the ’tilt control wand’ and the raise and lower ‘pull cords’, granting you the ability to adjust the slats to give exactly the required light conditions.

Venetian Blinds With Colour

Thomas Sanderson have an extensive colour selection ranging from bright white to dark greys and blacks, to deep rich purples and oranges also including delicate pastel and natural tones.
